A Neurologically/Bio Inspired Compute-Bounded Hybrid Cognitive Architecture
Abstract
We've built a cognitively complex, compute-efficient, intellectually gated system that operates in a “Goldilocks zone”: fast, stable, and interpretable at its core, with higher-order reasoning activated only by design.Benchmarks show the field-only training loop achieves single-digit millisecond batches on CPU, demonstrating that intelligence efficiency comes from architectural constraint and chaos management, not brute-force scale.Symbolic reasoning is intentionally gated because it is costly, making capability growth deliberate rather than automatic, which is both technically sound and ethically aligned. This approach is fully consistent with thermodynamics, as it reduces entropy production per unit learning by performing fewer, more meaningful irreversible operations.By publishing this paper and the repository under a copyright and PolyForm Noncommercial license respectively, this establishes intellectual provenance, frames the work correctly, and ensures responsible, human-controlled scaling.
