Abstract

We report the discovery of a ∼4-hour X-ray quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) inthe dwarf Seyfert galaxy NGC 4395, based on archival Chandra observations (ObsIDs5301 and 5302, total exposure 55.19 ks). The signal has a period P = 4.0 ± 0.3 hourswith false-alarm probability F AP = 0.007, shows higher amplitude in the hard X-rayband (2-10 keV), and is absent in background regions. This timescale is incompatibleby two orders of magnitude with orbital periods expected for a black hole of theestimated mass (PISCO ∼ minutes). Remarkably, the observed period quantitativelyagrees with the prediction of the ScMo-II model (Ppred = 4.0 ± 0.5 hours), whichposits a crystalline scalar geon–a non-singular, extended object with suppressedgravitational binding (κ ≡ Mdyn/Mtrue ≈ 0.25). This coincidence provides thefirst observational evidence supporting an alternative to the black hole paradigm ingalactic nuclei. We outline immediate falsifiable tests through X-ray polarimetry(IXPE) and sub-millimeter imaging (ALMA).
