The Erotic Psycho-Politics of Male Hierarchies in Post-War Ukraine: Alphas, Betas, Gammas, and the Subterranean Currents of Desire and Domination
Abstract
The erotic undercurrents of male hierarchy, from primal dominance structures in nature to the militarized polis of ancient Sparta, and onward to the contemporary post-war Ukrainian landscape, reveal a persistent psychoanalytic drama: the tension between phallic assertion, submission, and the repressed homoerotic aggression that structures masculine subjectivity. This essay examines these dynamics through a synthesis of classical and contemporary psychoanalytic theory — Freudian, Jungian, Lacanian, and post-structuralist — alongside gender, erotic, and cultural studies, to argue that gamma males and incels, as residual categories of failed or deferred masculinity, thrive only under the artificial protections of liberal individualism and maternal containment, whereas war and its surrogates expose and erotize their vulnerability in ways that both humiliate and libidinally charge the social order.
