Abstract

This study analyzes the digital academic management platforms of the state universities of Paraná, investigating their challenges, potential, and impacts on university management in a context of digital transformation. Its main objective is to develop a critical and forward-looking diagnosis of the systems in use, identifying their limitations in terms of usability, accessibility, integration, transparency, innovation management, and support for e-learning, as well as their contributions to administrative efficiency and the democratization of information. The research adopts an exploratory and descriptive methodology with a qualitative approach, grounded in a literature review, document analysis, and direct observation of institutional platforms, articulating analytical categories such as innovation management, academic quality, and digital governance. The analyses reveal heterogeneity in the universities’ digitalization trajectories, while also highlighting gaps, opportunities, and recommendations for improving public academic management. It is concluded that digital transformation should not be reduced to the mere computerization of processes, but rather understood as an institutional reconfiguration that requires technological integration, cultural change, and the strengthening of public innovation policies. The relevance of the study therefore lies in supporting reflections and practices aimed at improving university management, contributing to the advancement of public higher education in a democratic, efficient, and socially responsible manner. The reading of this work helps to clarify the pathways and dilemmas of digitalization in higher education, providing critical and constructive insights for managers, researchers, and public policy makers.
