Abstract

Supply chain attacks represent a growing threat in the cybersecurity landscape, exploiting dependencies between organizations to compromise downstream targets. This article examines Apple Inc.'s vulnerability to such attacks, drawing on historical and recent incidents to highlight systemic risks in its global manufacturing and software ecosystems. Through case studies, including the 2021 REvil ransomware attack on Quanta Computer and a 2025 cyberattack on a Chinese assembler, we analyze how Apple's reliance on third-party suppliers amplifies exposure. The discussion extends to broader implications, such as software vulnerabilities like Log4j, and proposes mitigation frameworks. Findings underscore the need for enhanced vendor oversight, encryption, and diversified sourcing to safeguard against these evolving threats.
