The Hidden Arithmetic of the Atom: From Bohr to Slater and Clementi, the Identity Revealed — 0.85 = 1/4 + 3/5
Abstract
For nearly a century, Slater's shielding coefficients (0.30, 0.35, 0.85, 1.00) have been used as empirical parameters without fundamental explanation. This work reveals their true nature: they are exact Lucas-Fibonacci identities. The central result demonstrates that σ(n−1) = 1/4 + 3/5 = 17/20 = 0.85 is not an approximation but a mathematical identity. Starting from the Bohr radius derived within the Theta Framework as a₀ = lP × φ^(2C_Θ + φ) × (C_Θ × φ² − 1), we extend this approach to 22 elements with 1.5% precision. Penetration corrections (+6/5 and +1/2) reproduce Clementi's values at 0% deviation for transition metals, surpassing Slater's original rules by 30-40%. The unified equation σ = τ + L(5)²/[L(3) × F(5) × F(7)] reveals that spatial shielding contains 45% temporal component, establishing space-time inseparability at the atomic level. A three-lock uniqueness theorem proves this decomposition is the only one possible. The atom calculates in golden ratio — and has done so all along.
