Finite-budget recursion and the inevitability of a mass gap in non-abelian gauge theory
Abstract
An (unsubmitted) Yang-Mills structural argument for why a mass gap is inevitable given the self-interaction of non-abelian gauge groups using finite budget principles across recursive scales. The mass gap emerges not as a dynamical accident but as a structural necessity: in a non–abelian gauge theory with locality and finite information capacity, infinite scale persistence of interacting excitations is forbidden. *Edit: I'm too lazy to write an entirely new paper, but additional work on other things helped clarify the statement that's hopefully already present in the paper; self-interaction is the temporalisation of identity in the Fregean sense. The mass gap is the statement that 'the ground state is not Frege's empty 0.' A positive lowest energy is the count of self-non-identity coming out nonzero. (Abelian = static identity = empty 0 = no gap. Non-abelian = temporalized identity = populated 0 = gap.)
