The Stylometric Firewall
Abstract
This essay examines the stylometric firewall as a structural defense against predictive smoothing and semantic compression in AI‑mediated writing environments. It analyzes how density, rhythmic asymmetry, lineage‑specific vocabulary, and recursive structuring create friction for predictive systems, preserving stylistic autonomy where homogenization pressures are strongest. The work outlines how writers who maintain strong firewalls exhibit stable density, durable lineage markers, and resistance to drift, forming distinct regions in embedding space. It concludes with a set of techniques—contrast stacking, asymmetric pacing, lineage reinforcement, and conceptual clustering—that enable writers to maintain stylistic edge within systems designed to flatten difference. This essay operates within the SignalRupture canon, extending the diagnostic lineage established in Quiet Governance, Systemic Erosion Theory, Infrastructural Exposure Theory, Slow Harm Theory, Social Infrastructure Theory, and Morality on Trial, alongside the applied surfaces Metadata Suppression and Stylometric Resistance and the stylometric capsule Triggering the System’s Immune Response.
