Dataset to "From Elasticity to Creep: Orthotropic moisture-dependent Rheology of Norway Spruce"
Abstract
Description This is the code release accompanying the paper Maas, J. M. and Wittel, F. K. (2026). From Elasticity to Creep: Orthotropic moisture-dependent Rheology of Norway Spruce. Holzforschung. (https://doi.org/10.1515/hf-2026-0009) It contains explorative widgets and data download options for: Material: Norway spruce Loading types: compression/tension in the radial (R), tangential (T), and longitudinal (L) directions; shear in the RT, TR, RL, LR, TL, LT directions Rheological properties: elasticity, plasticity, viscoelasticity, hygroexpansion Further properties: sorption isotherms, density distribution along the R coordinate Usage The data is accessible through widget-based interactive Jupyter notebooks. The notebooks are designed so that running the complete notebook via "Restart Kernel and Run All" makes the widgets accessible. The widgets commonly allow selecting specific directions and/or moisture contents, and the experimental and fitting data are equivalent to the plots in the original publication. Using an Export button, both experimental and fitting data can be exported as CSV tables. Alternatively, the raw data is provided in the data folder of this dataset. The notebooks can be run either via a local installation or via a RenkuLab instance, which is linked in the repository's README. Please refer to the repository's README for further information.
