jcochero/preservamos_mapa: Mapa de PreserVamos 2026
Abstract
PreserVamos Interactive MapCitizen science in aquatic environments in Argentina This Github repository contains the code for an interactive web application created with R and Shiny that visualizes data on river quality in different regions of Argentina from the PreserVamos project. What does it do? The map shows the PreserVamos Aquatic Habitat Quality Index at different points. As you move the map or zoom in and out, the index is recalculated to include the points that fall within the current view. On the right, a histogram gives you an idea of the condition of the area you have selected on the map. Colors like blue or green indicate good/very good quality, while colors like red indicate poor quality (like a traffic light!). Users can filter and explore the data by ecoregions, river types, and date ranges, as well as analyze correlations between river quality indices and other environmental variables. The application also includes dynamic maps, histograms, and correlation plots. Data sources The data comes in real time from the PreserVamos citizen science project database. The data is open and can be shared, downloaded, adapted, and reused. Are there ecoregions without data? Yes, there are ecoregions without data, but you can be the first person to participate in that ecoregion! Just go to the PreserVamos project website, download the app, and start your journey as a citizen scientist :)
