A Mathematical Curiosity — XIII Topological Thermodynamics and the Information-Energy
Abstract
We extend the algebraic analysis of the M_ext system to the thermodynamic domain. We propose a definition of potential energy based on topological complexity rather than field excitation. Geodesic Energy: We define the system's Hamiltonian as proportional to the minimal word length (metric distance) from the algebraic vacuum, interpreting energy as topological tension. Metastable Storage: We demonstrate that the non-trivial topology of the braid group allows for high-energy states that are immune to local radiative decay, suggesting a mechanism for near-lossless metastable configuration. Landauer Correspondence: We verify that the algebraic operations satisfy the Second Law of Thermodynamics, establishing a direct equivalence between the untying of topological defects and the Landauer limit of information erasure (kT ln 2).
