Abstract

(日本語バージョンは英語の後にあります)This paper aims to reformulate the squared structure (c²) in Einstein's mass–energy equivalence equation E = mc² within the framework of Meaning-Based Constraint (MBC) and Meaning-Based Theory (MBT). While the standard physical derivation relies on Lorentz invariance and Minkowski metric, this work does not negate that derivation but provides a complementary structural and meaning-theoretic interpretation. Energy E is redefined as the total maintenance cost of meaning closure (the aggregate computational and constraint cost required for a structure to persist as meaning), mass m as the local I₄ preservation density (how strongly four-point closures are bundled in a region), and the speed of light c as the minimal stable velocity of meaning propagation (the shortest computational time for ratio cross-validation within the I₄ network). The squared term c² is shown to emerge naturally as the product of two independent constraint axes: propagation (diffusion) and binding (local closure). The reformulation aligns with the fixed-point velocity formula derived from reaction-diffusion systems and positions energy as the computational cost for maintaining, disassembling, and reconfiguring frozen meaning structures.
