Abstract

AbstractDespite decades of research, the physical mechanism of ultra-efficient energytransfer in photosynthetic complexes remains controversial. We propose an alterna-tive conceptual framework in which the key role is played not by quantum coherenceor classical diffusion per se, but by the geometric architecture of chromophorearrangement, which converts non-directive thermal fluctuations into directed energyflow. We formulate a theory of resonant photoenergetics, make specific experimen-tally testable predictions, and propose design principles for artificial light-harvestingsystems. This work is an invitation for experimental verification of the proposedhypotheses.
