4D Model - Action, Projections, and Controlled Brane Limits
Abstract
We present an action-based framework on four spatial dimensions (4D space š = (x, y, z, w) plus time) in which three-dimensional (brane) observables are defined operationally by projection rather than by imposing boundary matching conditions. The model consists of a minimally coupled complex order parameter Ļ(š,t) (a gauged nonlinear Schrƶdinger sector with a frozen stiff polytropic equation of state), a localized Maxwell sector whose kinetic term is weighted by a confinement profile Z(w), and a dynamic two-parameter geometry closure in which the localized tube/throat is represented by an effective radius a(t) and length L(t) (optionally supplemented by a stiff ratio penalty enforcing L ā αa when desired). We fix electromagnetic source bookkeeping so that the covariant-derivative matter coupling generates a unique dynamical current JĻM, while any explicit source term in the electromagnetic Lagrangian represents external/background contributions JextM only. From the action we derive the exact EulerāLagrange equations, conserved current, and a vorticityāgauge identity. Using a normalized projection weight W(w) we define brane density and flux observables and obtain an exact projected continuity equation with an explicit leakage term Sleak encoding exchange through the extra coordinate. Applying a Helmholtz decomposition to the brane velocity yields an exact longitudinal identity in which the 3D Laplacian Ī3 acts on a brane velocity potential. In a controlled regime (quasi-static, longitudinal dominance, and small correction terms), this identity reduces to a Poisson equation on the brane, and the associated inverse-square scaling follows from the Greenās function of the 3D Laplacian rather than being postulated. We also give a controlled electromagnetic localization reduction: under a brane-dominant zero-mode ansatz for the gauge field, integrating over w yields an effective brane Maxwell theory with renormalized coupling μ0eff = μ0 / ā« Z(w) dw. Together these results provide a referee-clean bridge from fully four-dimensional dynamics to emergent three-dimensional operators and limits, with exact identities, controlled reductions, and regime claims separated explicitly.
