Adaptive Hybrid Storage Orchestration for Decentralized Data Management
Abstract
The exponential growth of digital data has intensified the demand for scalable and secure storage. Conventional centralized cloud systems face challenges of vendor lock-in and single points of failure, while decentralized protocols like the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) lack a native guarantee of data persistence. Conversely, Filecoin provides verifiable, long-term archival but suffers from high retrieval latency. This paper proposes the Adaptive Hybrid Storage Orchestration (AHSO) framework, an intelligent middleware that resolves these trade-offs. AHSO manages data across a multi-tiered architecture, utilizing IPFS for high-performance hot and warm tiers and Filecoin for cost-effective, verifiable cold storage. The framework employs a policy engine to automatically classify, migrate, and rehydrate data based on access frequency and user-defined rules. By leveraging content addressing for integrity and adaptive orchestration for efficiency, AHSO presents a viable architecture for balancing cost, accessibility, and persistence in large-scale decentralized data management.
