Abstract

Leadership in Islamic education is understood as the skill or art of influencing and coordinating individuals to work in a directed manner in accordance with the goals and programs of the institution. This study aims to comprehensively analyze leadership types and styles in the context of Islamic education management, focusing on transformational, participative, and value-based leadership. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach. The research data sources consist of primary sources in the form of reputable indexed scientific journals and secondary sources in the form of reference books related to Islamic education leadership published within the last five years (2021-2026). Data collection techniques use documentation techniques with documentation sheet instruments. Data analysis uses content analysis techniques with the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity is ensured through source triangulation and theory triangulation. The results show that: (1) transformational leadership in Islamic education management emphasizes four main dimensions, namely idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration integrated with Islamic values; (2) participative leadership actualizes the principle of syura in collective decision-making and empowerment of all components of educational institutions; and (3) value-based leadership implements prophetic pillars including siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathanah as the ethical foundation in managing Islamic educational institutions. These three leadership styles complement each other and contribute significantly to quality improvement, organizational effectiveness, and the formation of religious culture in Islamic educational institutions.
