Abstract

Abstract: Despite of the availability of therapeutic interventions and supportive care, the number of cancer cases worldwide remains a major source of concern in terms of morbidity and mortality. The rise in cancer mortality may be attributed to shortcomings in the present diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. A new method called "Theranostics" has made it possible to precisely diagnose and treat cancer patients at the same time. Even though they are still in the early stages of development, theranostic agents—such as plasmonic nanobubbles, liposomes, radioisotopes, and quantum dots— can be attached to anticancer medications, cancer cell markers, and imaging agents. With the aid of current imaging techniques, these agents may make it easier to diagnose, treat, and manage cancer patients. Theranostic is a precision medicine which integrates diagnostic nuclear medicine and radionuclide therapy for various cancers throughout body using suitable tracers and treatment that target specific biological pathways or receptors. This review covers recent theranostics of radio-immunotherapy for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and treatment of bone metastasis using bone seeking radiopharmaceuticals. Furthermore, new radiopharmaceuticals for prostatic cancer and pancreatic cancer have been added. of particular, F-18 Fluoro-2-Deoxyglucose (FDG) Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is often used for the treatment, monitoring and estimating patient outcome. Theranostic’s ground-breaking methodology, which promises better medication selection based on particular molecular aspects of disease, more predictive capacity for side effects, and new methods to objectively monitor therapy response, is the primary cause of its immense excitement.Abstract: Despite of the availability of therapeutic interventions and supportive care, the number of cancer cases worldwide remains a major source of concern in terms of morbidity and mortality.
