SPECTRAL GEOMETRY OF THE STANDARD MODEL ALGEBRA: TRACE STRUCTURES AND GAUGE UNIFICATION
Abstract
We present a complete and self-contained derivation of the gauge unification condition sin2 θW = 3/8 within the spectral geometry framework of Connes andChamseddine. Working with the finite algebra AF = C ⊕ H ⊕ M3(C) that encodesthe Standard Model gauge structure, we compute the trace invariants controlling thespectral coefficients that enter the gauge kinetic terms through the a4 Seeley–DeWittcoefficient of the spectral action. The key result—the ratio CU(1)/CSU(2) = 1/3—follows from explicit trace calculations over the fermionic representation space, whichwe present state-by-state. We also explain precisely how the usual SU(5) normalization of hypercharge (g2 1 = 5 3g′2) enters the final prediction. Standard renormalizationgroup evolution in the MS scheme then yields sin2 θW(MZ) ≈ 0.231, consistent withprecision electroweak data.
