Abstract

This is a Notice of Supersession. Paper 33 (v1.0, 21 January 2026; retitled v1.2 "Fine Structure Constant: Vertex, Face, and Holographic Perspectives") presented two formulas for α⁻¹ built from icosahedral invariants — a vertex-centred construction matching CODATA 2018 and a face-centred construction matching CODATA 2022, each to parts-per-trillion — and proposed that the ~93 ppb discrepancy between the two CODATA releases is the vertex-face duality gap of an icosahedral spacetime lattice. Paper 33 and Paper 127 [1] (Fine Structure Unified) are the same January-era construction held at two disciplinary standards. They contain the same vertex, face, and holographic material; Paper 127 has been reined back to current programme discipline (Patterns 75, 99, 100, 101) and Paper 33 has not. This notice retires the over-statused instance because the correctly-statused sibling already exists. Paper 33's two claims that this notice retires — (i) that the harmonic coefficients constitute a parts-per-trillion derivation of α, and (ii) that the construction-difference is the metrological discrepancy rather than being consistent with it — were made at a precision and a status the constructions do not earn. Paper 127 holds the identical material at STATUS: SUGGESTIVE, names the coefficients as constructible-but-not-derived, and schedules the Pattern 75 null distribution (the §4 generic-family duality-gap audit) that Paper 33 did not run, with a commitment that no future Zenodo version of Paper 127 ships without it. Paper 33 is retired to the Superseded Papers section of the catalogue. The DERIVED base formula it shares with the successor — α⁻¹ = e⁵ − 6√3 − 1 + 1/66 at ~50 ppb — survives in Paper 127 §2 and in Paper 2 (2I Foundations) at honest precision with a discharged null. Nothing in this notice is new; the surviving content lives in the named successor.
