"From Crystal to Curvature: Governor-Stabilized Inflation and Projected Holonomy Gravity in R⁸ (Layers F–I)"/The Kernel of Gravity: A Causal Governor for SM-like Symmetry Selection in R⁸
Abstract
We present a consolidated, integration-ready microphysics-to-geometry block of the R⁸ / Crystalline Axiverse framework, comprising: (i) a technical completion of the inflationary microphysics (Layer F addendum), (ii) an elasticity-first IR effective theory for emergent gravity (Layer H), and (iii) a discrete gauge/holonomy formulation that synthesizes curvature from an algebraic projector (Layer I). **Layer F (Microphysics Completion).** We parameterize the required inflationary dissipation by a channel-summed form \(Q \equiv \Upsilon/(3H)=C(T/H)\sum_{i=1}^{N}\alpha_i\) with an explicit, model-dependent prefactor \(C=\mathcal{O}(1)\). A large \(N\) channel basis (E8-inspired \(N=240\)) dilutes the per-mode load into a perturbative regime. The core ingredient is a causal **local Governor**: couplings are treated as slow collective variables that relax through nearest-neighbor diffusion plus saturation bounds to a constrained fixed point equivalent to a bounded-simplex (“water-filling”) projection \(\alpha_i=\mathrm{clip}(\alpha_i^{(0)}+\lambda,\alpha_{\min},\alpha_{\max})\) with \(\sum_i\alpha_i=A_{\rm tgt}\). This removes teleological global optimization, replaces runaway strong coupling with **unitary clamping + redistribution**, and produces a falsifiable spectral claim: **clipped extreme-event tails** (bounded hotspot statistics) as a distinctive signature of saturation-limited load balancing. The rigidity-dominated (laminar) regime is stated explicitly as a working hypothesis and is intended to be tested against reheating/transition dynamics. **Layer H (Emergent Gravity as Metric Elasticity).** Post-transition, the vacuum is modeled as a relativistic elastic medium via material-coordinate fields \(\Phi^I(x)\) and strain invariants \(X=\mathrm{Tr}B\), \(Y=\mathrm{Tr}(B^2)\), \(Z=\det B\) with \(B^{IJ}=g^{\mu\nu}\partial_\mu\Phi^I\partial_\nu\Phi^J\). We propose an IR effective action \(S=\int\sqrt{-g}\,[\tfrac12 M^2(\sigma)R-\Lambda(\sigma)+\mathcal{F}(X,Y,Z;\sigma)-\tfrac12(\partial\sigma)^2-V_\sigma(\sigma)]+S_{\rm matter}\), yielding a fully local medium stress tensor \(T^{\mu\nu}_{\rm med}\). In the long-wavelength, slowly-varying limit (heavy extra modes integrated out or screened), the theory reduces to an Einstein-like constitutive relation \(G_{\mu\nu}+\Lambda_{\rm eff}g_{\mu\nu}=8\pi G_{\rm eff}T^{\rm matter}_{\mu\nu}+\mathcal{O}(\partial^4/\Lambda_{\rm UV}^2)\) with \(8\pi G_{\rm eff}=[M^2(\bar\sigma)]^{-1}\). We impose explicit kill-switch guardrails: luminal tensor sector (Clause-U, \(c_{\rm GW}=c\)), PPN consistency (\(\gamma_{\rm PPN}\simeq1\)), and absence of observable extra GW polarizations via “mode hygiene” (heavy/screened non–spin-2 sectors, consistent with the gated-portal logic developed in the microphysics block). **Layer I (Holonomy and Projectors).** We ground the emergent geometry in discrete, gauge-theoretic observables by replacing derivative curvature with loop holonomy. The leaf holonomy is \(U(\gamma)=\mathcal{P}\exp\oint_\gamma \omega_\mu dx^\mu\), and small-loop (plaquette) holonomies encode curvature via \(U_\square\simeq\exp(R_{\mu\nu}\Delta S^{\mu\nu})\) with gauge-invariant proxies \(\mathrm{Tr}(I-U_\square)\propto R_{\mu\nu}{}^{ab}R^{\mu\nu}{}_{ab}(\Delta S)^2\). The algebraic keystone is a Bank-to-Leaf projector \(P(x):\mathbb{R}^N\to\mathbb{R}^4\) with \(PP^\top=I_4\), defining an induced leaf connection \(\omega_\mu = P\mathcal{A}_\mu P^\top + P\partial_\mu P^\top\) from a Bank connection \(\mathcal{A}_\mu\). Curvature is then (to leading IR order) projected Bank curvature \(R_{\mu\nu}\approx P\mathcal{F}_{\mu\nu}P^\top\) up to controlled projector-gradient (“torsion”) terms, yielding explicit PASS/FAIL criteria for suppressing projector jitter and equivalence-principle violation. Overall, this package converts the R⁸ program from a qualitative narrative into a modular EFT blueprint with local dynamics, bounded couplings, explicit guardrails, and falsifiers. It prepares the next step (Layer J): deriving Standard Model structure from the orthogonal complement (kernel) of the gravity projector while preserving the observational constraints already enforced here. (Layer J — Full-Ready + Hierarchical Governor Certification) We present a Zenodo-ready, integration-complete formulation of **Layer J (Kernel → Standard Model)** in the R⁸ / Crystalline Axiverse framework, together with an explicit **Hierarchical Governor Certification** addendum that converts the Kernel→SM claim into a local, reproducible PASS/FAIL pipeline. Building on Layers H–I, spacetime geometry is defined by a rank-4 Bank-to-Leaf projector \(P(x)\) and its induced holonomy; the internal sector is then identified as the orthogonal complement \(\Pi_k = I-\Pi_g\), where \(\Pi_g=P^\top P\). The Bank connection \(\mathcal{A}_\mu\) decomposes into gravity, kernel, and mixing blocks, with the mixing block treated as a potentially dangerous portal channel that must be heavy or gated to preserve equivalence-principle and PPN constraints. Layer J adopts a **J2-first strategy with a mandatory J1 filter**. The J1 filter enforces leading-order gravity–kernel separation (or, equivalently, restricts light internal transformations to the commutant of the gravitational holonomy), ensuring that internal gauge structure does not disturb the induced geometric sector. The J2 mechanism is **hierarchical**: a pre-projector \(Q_{\rm pre}\) (rank 5) selects an active internal island while the inert complement is assumed gapped/confined in the IR; within that active 5D sector, an SM projector \(Q_{\rm sm}\) implements a 3+2 split. Algebraically, the unbroken light algebra in the active island is the centralizer \(\{X\in\mathfrak{su}(5):[X,Q_{\rm sm}]=0\}\), whose dimension is \(3^2+2^2-1=12\), matching \(\mathfrak{su}(3)\oplus\mathfrak{su}(2)\oplus\mathfrak{u}(1)\). For larger kernels the full commutant can be much larger; the hierarchical construction explicitly addresses this by attributing the extra symmetry to the inert complement, which is rendered heavy by the pre-stage (mode hygiene via gapping/confinement terms). To eliminate teleology, the addendum introduces a **local Governor** for \(Q_{\rm pre}\): a reaction–diffusion relaxation on a kernel locality graph (via a Laplacian \(L\)), augmented by a weak pullback term, an annealed noise schedule \(\sigma_t=\sigma_0 e^{-t/\tau}\), and a spectral projection step that enforces idempotency and fixed rank (a POCS-like dynamics). We define certification metrics: (i) idempotency \(\|Q^2-Q\|\), (ii) late-time stability via tail RMS jitter \(\mathrm{RMS}\,\|Q_{t+1}-Q_t\|\) over the final portion of evolution, and (iii) a discrete torsion/locality proxy \(\|[Q,L]\|\) required to decrease under the Governor. In a representative end-to-end toy run (dk=12, rank\(_{\rm pre}\)=5, rank\(_{\rm sm}\)=3, \(\sigma_0=10^{-3}\), \(\tau=60\), 800 steps), the Governor produces an idempotent, late-stable \(Q_{\rm pre}\) with strongly reduced torsion proxy, and the induced active-sector centralizer is exactly 12-dimensional; all PASS/FAIL criteria are satisfied. This release provides (1) a complete Layer J narrative (kernel definition, block decomposition, nested projector mechanism, and inert-complement handling) and (2) a rigorous certification addendum demonstrating existence, locality, and stability of an SM-like kernel fixed point. We also state non-negotiable guardrails as hard kill-switches: anomaly freedom, chirality (or gapped mirrors), absence of extra long-range vectors, suppression of fifth-force portals, and proton stability. An explicit microscopic embedding (Bank-root map, generations, and anomaly-realizing chiral content) is acknowledged as subsequent “mountaineering” work, to be pursued once the certified hierarchical mechanism is adopted as the structural baseline.
