Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of WatchEat, an advanced Generative AI application that calculates real-time caloric intake versus expenditure, on weight loss and mindful eating behaviors over a 30-day period. Methods: Thirty adults (18 females, 12 males; Mean BMI > 30) participated in a one-month intervention. Participants were instructed to perform “pre-emptive logging” of all food intake using the WatchEat application on their smartphones or smartwatches. Results: A paired samples t-test revealed a statistically significant weight reduction (M = 2.97 kg, p < .001). Participants who adhered to the pre-meal logging protocol showed higher success rates compared to those who logged retrospectively. Conclusion: Generative AI simplifies dietary self-monitoring and enhances nutritional literacy, making it a viable tool for obesity management and behavioral change.
