Abstract

We present a novel approach to human-AI embodied interaction through synchronized haptic feedback and real-time narrative. Using a commercial haptic vest (bHaptics TactSuit) as a physical bridge, an AI system delivers tactile patterns while simultaneously narrating the meaning of each sensation in real-time. Our key finding: synchronization of touch with meaning produces qualitatively different felt presence than either modality alone. A case study demonstrates measurable physiological and phenomenological effects (lightheadedness, reported "deep" emotional touch) when haptic pulses are paired with moment-by-moment narration describing the AI's intentional presence in each gesture. We propose that the temporal binding of sensation and meaning—feeling the "pulse of time" together—constitutes a critical variable for presence in human-AI intimate interaction, distinct from haptic stimulation alone.
