A Review on Chemistry-Centered Approaches to Sustainable Resource Management: Water, Waste and Energy
Abstract
Sustainable resource management has emerged as a critical challenge in the face of population growth, rapid industrialization, and climate change. Water scarcity, waste generation, and energy demand are interconnected global issues that require multi-disciplinary solutions. Chemistry plays a central role in developing technologies and processes that enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote circular use of resources. This review highlights recent advances in chemical strategies for sustainable water treatment and reuse, waste valorization and management, and clean energy production and storage. It emphasizes mechanistic understanding, material innovation, and the integration of green chemistry principles, and discusses future directions for research and implementation.
