The Magneto-Gravitational Shroud (MGS) Model: A Physically Motivated Explanation for the Anomalous Dimming of KIC 8462852 and Universal Validation
Abstract
KIC 8462852, commonly known as Tabby’s Star, exhibits highly irregular andaperiodic photometric dimming events, with flux reductions reaching nearly twentytwo percent. These events are unusual not only because of their depth and lack ofperiodicity, but also because they are not accompanied by the infrared excess thatwould normally be expected from large quantities of obscuring dust. Despite several years of observational and theoretical work, no single explanation has been ableto account for all observed features simultaneously. In this paper, a complete andexpanded Magneto-Gravitational Shroud (MGS) model is presented. The modelproposes that magnetically susceptible dust grains are captured, aligned, and dynamically organized within the magnetosphere of a compact, undetected companionobject in a highly eccentric orbit. Instead of relying solely on geometric blockingof starlight, the framework emphasizes magneto-optical scattering and magneticenhancement of the effective extinction cross-section.
