Abstract

This script is designed to process and visualize the probability distribution of extreme wind speeds from WRF simulation outputs. It operates in two primary modes: calculation "cal"and plotting "plot" Data Porcessing ("cal" mode) It filters out missing values and performs a quicksort to rank the data. It calculates mean wind speed values for specific extreme percentile ranges (e.g., the 90th, 99th, or 99.9th percentiles) based on the user-defined threshold Visualization ("plot" mode) The script generates bar charts comparing the historical (HIST) baseline with different future scenarios. It features automated coordinate scaling for different percentile ranges (90-100%, 99-100%, etc.) to ensure the extreme tails of the distribution are clearly visible. Output is generated as high-quality Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files for publication.
