Textbook of Physical Pharmaceutics I
Abstract
Preface Textbook of Physical Pharmaceutics I has been carefully prepared to meet the academic requirements of undergraduate pharmacy students in accordance with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) syllabus. The subject of Physical Pharmaceutics forms the scientific foundation of pharmaceutics, linking physicochemical principles with formulation design, drug stability, and therapeutic performance. This book covers the core topics essential for a clear understanding of physical pharmacy, including solubility of drugs, states of matter, physicochemical properties of drug molecules, surface and interfacial phenomena, complexation and drug action, and pH, buffers, and isotonic solutions. The content is presented in a structured, concise, and student-friendly manner to facilitate conceptual clarity, examination preparation, and practical application. The chapters have been contributed by experienced academicians and subject experts from the fields of Pharmacy and Biotechnology. Their collective expertise ensures scientific accuracy, clarity of concepts, and alignment with contemporary pharmacy education standards. We sincerely acknowledge and thank all the contributing authors for their valuable efforts and scholarly contributions. We also express our gratitude to the Swalife Foundation and its Biopress Division for their support in publishing this textbook and promoting quality academic resources.
