Abstract

This journal article examines reactions from Indo-American entrepreneurs following the leak of an audio recording related to a proposed India–United States trade agreement. The recording, attributed to remarks made during private donor meetings, suggests internal political disagreements within the U.S. administration and identifies senior political figures as obstacles to the negotiations. Originally published by Le Manifest on 26 January 2026, the article analyzes the political, economic, and diaspora-related implications of the controversy, highlighting tensions between protectionist and free-trade factions within the Republican Party and the resulting impact on U.S.–India bilateral relations.
