A Study on the Impact of Government Advertising on Public Perception and Behavior
Abstract
Government advertising plays a significant role in communicating public policies, welfare schemes, and social messages to citizens. Through various media such as print, television, and digital platforms, governments attempt to create awareness and encourage positive public behaviour. This study examines the impact of government advertising on public perception and behaviour, with a focus on how such advertisements influence awareness, trust, attitudes, and behavioural responses among the general public. The study adopts a simple mixed-methods approach. Primary data are collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale administered to members of the public through convenient sampling. Basic statistical tools such as percentage analysis, mean scores, correlation, and simple regression are used for data analysis. In addition, limited qualitative inputs are gathered through informal interviews and open-ended responses to support the quantitative findings. Secondary data from government reports, journals, and media sources provide additional context. The study aims to offer practical insights for policymakers and administrators to improve the effectiveness of government advertising and enhance public engagement.
