UCT Flourish | Co curriculum | 2026
Abstract
The UCT Flourish Annual Co-Curriculum (2026) outlines a comprehensive, evidence-informed programme designed to support student wellbeing, adaptive capacity, and flourishing, while also contributing to a broader culture of wellbeing across the University of Cape Town. Developed under the Centre for Wellbeing and Flourishing, the co-curriculum integrates contemporary positive psychology, character strengths science, and applied wellbeing practices into a coherent, scalable institutional offering. The programme is structured around a four-tier flourishing ecosystem, Journey, Community, Amplify, and Knowledge & Wisdom and includes online seminars, guided challenges, reflective experiences, creative and cultural events, peer-supported initiatives, and flagship gatherings. While primarily geared toward students, selected elements are intentionally designed to remain accessible and relevant to staff and the wider university community. Grounded in iterative learning from previous years, the 2026 co-curriculum reflects accumulated insights from participant feedback, engagement data, and ongoing innovation within higher-education wellbeing practice. It aligns with UCT’s broader institutional priorities, including Vision 2030, and contributes to the growing global discourse on embedding wellbeing and flourishing within university systems. This document serves both as an operational programme guide and a reference model for institutions seeking to implement structured, evidence-based co-curricular approaches to flourishing at scale.
