U-AGREE D5.1 Exploratory Research Plan (ERP)
Abstract
The purpose of this Exploratory Research Plan (ERP) is to define the objectives, scope, and methodology of the validation activities aimed at assessing the performance of the integrated risk models and U-space based mitigation developed in the U-AGREE project. These models address air, ground, and collision risks in Very Low Level (VLL) airspace and consider the role of U-space services as mitigation barriers. Two validation exercises are planned, both leveraging Monte-Carlo techniques. The first exercise will assess the initial risk models developed, in which the basic U-space services defined in EU Regulation 2021/664 serve as mitigation barriers. The second exercise will focus on refined risk models and advanced services. Both exercises will be carried out independently on three simulation platforms owned by consortium partners and applied to representative scenarios defined in the project’s OSED. The goal of these validation activities is to generate quantitative evidence of how the proposed models and U-space based risk mitigation barriers can enhance safety and support the scalable integration of UAS into European airspace. The entry and exit maturity levels are respectively TRL0 and TRL2.
