Abstract
Abstract: This study investigates the advances and challenges of the Maria da Penha Law in combating domestic violence, seeking to understand its effectiveness in protecting women in vulnerable situations. The research analyzes the most common types of aggression, the available legal mechanisms, and the obstacles victims face when seeking help. The main objective is to identify the progress made since the law's creation, as well as the obstacles that still hinder its full implementation. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of strengthening support networks and public policies that guarantee safety and support for women. The qualitative methodology allows mapping the regions most affected by gender-based violence, analyzing the data to understand the reality faced by victims. The results indicate that, despite legal and institutional advances, significant challenges remain, such as slow judicial processes, revictimization, and insufficient specialized services. The conclusion is that investing in education, professional training, and improving public policies is essential to ensure the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law and promote a more just, safe, and egalitarian society for all women.
