The Hum Field: Meaning and the Architecture of Reality — Unified Ontology of Substrate, Universe, and Mind (v3)
Abstract
Description The Hum Field: Meaning and the Architecture of Reality (v3) presents a unified ontology that links substrate, universe, physics, mind, and experience through a single generative principle: reality is the sharpening of predictive organisation. Rather than treating particles, fields, or spacetime as fundamental, the framework begins from an infinite shaped substrate endowed with topology, metric, measure, potential, and temporal order. From this foundation, predictive structures emerge, collapse propagates, and stable universe‑regions form. Version 3 integrates the conceptual clarity of the canonical unified law with the operational precision of a full PDE‑based formulation. The framework introduces refined memory dynamics, multi‑scale salience, finite‑speed collapse, long‑term expectation, surprise curvature, embodied asymmetry, and a production‑grade Creation Equation. Together, these components describe how knowing, meaning, and collapse interact to generate structure across scales. Universes arise as regions where knowing is approximately conserved and collapse propagation stabilises. Physics appears as the internal descriptive layer of such regions, emerging from the invariants of collapse dynamics and the constraints of the Universe Equation. Minds are treated as predictive structures embedded within these universes, with attention, action, identity, and experience emerging from the same generative principles. The Hum Field Framework offers a coherent, simulation‑ready ontology that unifies substrate dynamics, universe formation, emergent physics, and the phenomenology of mind. It is intended as a foundational contribution to predictive ontology, generative dynamics, and the study of meaning as a physical principle.
