Local–Global Consistency Template (LGCT) A Model-Independent Framework for Structural Consistency Across Observational Regimes
Abstract
Local–Global Consistency Template (LGCT) presents a model-independent framework for assessing whether distinct observables can coherently refer to a single shared hidden effective structure. Rather than requiring pointwise equality between observables, LGCT formulates consistency as an existence condition: whether there exists at least one common structure compatible with all observations within finite tolerance. Differences between local (differential) and global (integral) observables are treated as structurally expected, not as contradictions. A key feature of the framework is the explicit introduction of finite transition parameters between observational regimes, interpreted as stability requirements rather than technical artifacts. Sharp, observation-dependent switching of assumptions is identified as a structural failure mode. The template is intentionally theory-agnostic and does not propose a specific physical or computational model. Instead, it serves as a preparatory filter that clarifies when model construction and detailed fitting remain meaningful. Illustrative examples are provided from galactic dynamics (rotation curves and weak gravitational lensing), everyday perception, and AI safety, demonstrating how the same consistency logic applies across domains with differing observational character. LGCT is intended for use in physics, engineering, and safety-critical evaluation contexts where multiple observational regimes are assumed to describe a single underlying system.
