Orthogonal Phase Isolation (OPI): A Non-Spatial Quantum Mechanism for the Dark Sector and Cosmic Stability
Abstract
The Standard Cosmological Model (ΛCDM) successfully parametrizes the large-scale structure of the universe but leaves the fundamental nature of Dark Matter (~26% of energy density) and Dark Energy (~69%) unresolved. This paper introduces the Orthogonal Phase Isolation (OPI) theory, a rigorous quantum-mechanical framework proposing that the Dark Sector resides within the standard four-dimensional spacetime but is separated from the baryonic sector by a fundamental orthogonality in Hilbert space. We derive a modified Lagrangian density that incorporates a "Phase Barrier Field", suppressing electromagnetic coupling while preserving gravitational interactions. The theory provides testable predictions regarding gravitational wave signatures and offers a parsimonious path toward a Grand Unified Theory without invoking higher spatial dimensions.
