Abstract
Social accountability, as highlighted by author Mahatma Gandhi, serves as the cornerstone of ethical corporate conduct, emphasizing the responsibility of businesses towards society. Building upon this principle, this paper delves into an in-depth comparative analysis of leading Indian and global corporations, aiming to explore their commitment to social responsibility and its implications for sustainable growth. This paper delves into the realm of social accountability by conducting a comparative analysis of leading Indian and global corporations. It serves as an exploration and examination of companies' activities within the context of their societal responsibilities. The primary focus lies in understanding how companies fulfil their ethical obligations towards society and how this contributes to their long-term sustainability. Employing a descriptive approach, the study relies on secondary data to scrutinize the social activities of two companies each from the Indian and global contexts. Through critical analysis, the findings underscore the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a tool for selfassessment during social audits, ultimately fostering the companies' sustainable existence.
