Relationship Deepening Support via Structured Dialogue Logs and Topic Cards: Designing and Evaluating a "Growing Conversations" Chat Experience
Abstract
This paper proposes a “growing conversations” chat experience that structures dialogue logs into portable “topic cards” (preferences, experiences, values) to support relationship deepening. Topic cards are incrementally accumulated, editable, and shareable with explicit consent, and are used to guide conversation through a staged flow (commonality → differences → narrative). To mitigate cold-start issues, the system integrates a question game, open rooms, and invite-only private rooms. We also discuss privacy-by-design principles (data minimization, non-retention/expiry, consent-based sharing) and outline an evaluation plan using behavioral metrics (reply rate, turn-taking, revisit) and subjective measures (conversation satisfaction, closeness, initial burden).
