Protocol: Evidence map of population screening for cardiovascular disease
Abstract
Vascular disease, also known as cardiovascular disease (CVD), is a condition that affects the heart or blood vessels. A quarter of all deaths each year are due to heart and circulatory diseases. This evidence map, commissioned by the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC), aims to provide an overview of the volume and type of evidence that is available relating to the distribution of CVD across different population groups, and the effectiveness of interventions to treat asymptomatic adults with CVD identified through screening.
