Abstract

eunis2pft provides tools to derive Plant Functional Type (PFT) fractions from EUNIS habitat classes and to integrate these fractions into CLM (Community Land Model) surface data files. The package supports workflows that: derive PFT fractions from vegetation survey data, aggregate these fractions by EUNIS class and level, spatially map PFT fractions using EUNIS raster products, replace PFT and land-unit fractions in CLM NetCDF surfdata files. The core concept is a lookup table that links EUNIS habitat classes to fractional PFT composition, derived from plot-level vegetation surveys. Package contents R/: functions to compute PFT fractions from EUNIS classes spatially map PFT fractions modify CLM surfdata NetCDF files data/: lookup tables linking EUNIS classes to PFT fractions EUNIS legends and auxiliary spatial data /inst/extdata/: additional data needed for the examples This package was developed in the context of the study: Climate response to Nature Futures scenarios in a regional Earth System Model Sieber, P., Karger, D.
