Abstract

English language education has evolved beyond the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms, demanding innovative approaches that connect language learning with real-life application and technology. This book is rooted in that vision and professional commitment. Mrs. A. Ranjini Sangeetha, M.A., B.Ed., currently serves as an Assistant Professor of English in the Department of Science & Humanities and General Engineering at Jayaraj Annapackiam CSI College of Engineering. Alongside her academic role, she actively contributes as a Placement Trainer, preparing students to meet academic, professional, and career-oriented challenges. Her deep passion for reading, particularly in the areas of English Language Teaching and Grammar, has continually shaped her teaching philosophy and pedagogical practices. Driven by her affection for the English language, the author aspires to accomplish her Ph.D. in English Language Education and Innovative Teaching Pedagogy. Through her extensive interaction with college students, she has observed that many learners struggle to speak and learn English confidently. This struggle often results in a psychological knock-back that builds invisible barriers, preventing students from standing out in competitive academic and professional environments. With a strong learner-centric approach, Mrs. Ranjini Sangeetha emphasizes the clear distinction between skill and talent, encouraging students to understand that English proficiency is a learnable skill rather than an innate gift. She often compares learning English to everyday skill acquisition—such as riding a bicycle, learning to ride a bike, or typing on a computer—thereby demystifying the fear associated with language learning. Her teaching methodology focuses on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where students actively participate, take risks, and develop confidence. By fostering a can-do attitude, she motivates learners to persist through challenges and embrace continuous effort in mastering a new language, ultimately leading to better academic performance and professional outcomes. A notable strength of her pedagogy is the effective integration of technology in English Language Teaching. Technology serves as a powerful tool to enhance Input Skills—Listening and Reading; Output Skills—Speaking and Writing; and Foundational Skills such as Vocabulary, Grammar, and Pronunciation. This integration bridges the gap between language and discipline-specific learning, particularly for engineering and technical students. The ideas and practices presented in this book have also paved the way for scholarly contribution, leading to the publication of the book chapter “Tech Meets Language: Computer Science in English Language Education.” This work stands as a testament to the author’s belief that technology and language, when harmoniously combined, can transform English language education and empower learners for the global stage.
