Abstract

The Earth Data Portal (EDP) is increasingly evolving into a central access point for Earth and environmental data, providing a unified and user-friendly interface for discovery, exploration, and reuse across distributed data providers. By harvesting and integrating heterogeneous datasets, the EDP enables researchers and other users to efficiently find, interpret, and access relevant information in one place.Within the EDP, SensorThings entities such as Things, Sensors, and Datastreams are harvested and represented as metadata records on the portal’s (meta)data page. This integration allows users to search and filter across all connected STA endpoints simultaneously, enabling efficient discovery of relevant time series data from multiple providers through a single interface.Building on this, selected datasets can be saved to a shopping cart (“My Data”) and downloaded via an externally connected download service. The download delivers the selected time series in a structured folder layout, including the associated metadata (RO-CRATE), supporting straightforward local reuse and further analysis.
