Understanding Reader Engagement: The Effect of Content and Advertisements on Satisfaction and Purchase Behaviour
Abstract
The study examines how content quality and advertisement appeal influence customer satisfaction and purchase behavior among print media readers. Data were collected from 151 respondents with diverse demographic backgrounds. Reliability analysis confirmed strong internal consistency for all constructs (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.706–0.931). Pearson correlation revealed significant positive relationships: content quality with customer satisfaction (r = 0.726, p < 0.01) and purchase behavior (r = 0.604, p < 0.01), and advertisement appeal with customer satisfaction (r = 0.743, p < 0.01) and purchase behavior (r = 0.688, p < 0.01). No significant differences were found across gender, age, or occupation. Factor analysis identified two components—Content Quality and Advertisement Effectiveness—explaining 60.79% of total variance. Findings suggest that both high-quality content and effective advertisements are crucial in enhancing reader satisfaction and influencing purchase decisions. The study offers practical insights for print media organizations to optimize editorial content and advertising strategies to boost consumer engagement and commercial outcomes.
