Abstract

This file includes scripts, functions, and associated files to reproduce figures to be included in the publication entitled Dependence of river water lithium isotope ratios on watershed attributes complicates interpretation of weathering-driven CO2 drawdown. All files can be processed in the MATLAB programming environment. The main scripts include Ramos_etal_2026_UnpackInversions.m Ramos_etal_2026_SteadyStateCalcs.m Ramos_etal_2026_stats.m The first script loads a suite of solute inversion results, post-processes the data, and visualizes these results. It is recommended that you run this first script because the files loaded/calculations conducted in this script are used in subsequent scripts. The second script performs mass balance predictions for chemical weathering fluxes, which are then compared to the solute inversions. The third conducts statistical analyses to better understand how river chemistry compares with watershed attributes. These scripts here reproduce figures shown in the primary publication and provide additional figures that did not make it into publication. Before running any script, make sure that these files are all contained in the same folder. Several other .MAT and .m files (not described here) are necessary for the scripts to be successfully executed.
