No matter how carefully a product is designed,it is impossible to predict every situation. The same applies to institutions and human judgment. Nevertheless, society moves forward.Life proceeds by acting under incomplete understandingand correcting course when necessary. Recently, however, a structural pattern has emergedin which un-understandability itself becomes a form of value, and the initiative and responsibility of understandingare shifted to the recipient. This paper provisionally names this structurethe “Socratic Model”and examines its limitations, before proposing the “Anti-Socratic Model (provisional)”as a counter-framework. Definition of the Socratic Model In this paper, the Socratic Model refers to the following structure: Socratic ModelA structure in which uncertainty is preserved, questions are posed, the initiative of understanding is retained by the questioner, while conclusions and responsibility are delegated to the recipient. This structure sharpens inquirybut distances itself from responsibility for action and implementation. The Problem of Delegated Responsibility In real-world contexts, progress cannot wait for perfect understanding. Decisions are made under incomplete knowledgeand revised over time. When inquiry is detached from responsibility, risk is concentrated on those who act, while those who withhold conclusions remain unaccountable. The Anti-Socratic Model In response, this paper proposes the following counter-model: Anti-Socratic Model (provisional)A structure in which incompleteness is acknowledged, the initiative of understanding is actively assumed, and initiative is transferred only after understanding is established. The key distinction is not the absence of initiative, but the willingness to hold it while moving forward, and to hand it over only at the appropriate moment. Conclusion Those who leave questions behind are philosophers. But only those who assume responsibility for questionscan move society forward.
