Abstract

This data report summarizes results from the Sophia University Climate Survey 2025, a large-scale online survey on public beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, and emotions related to climate change in Japan. The survey was administered online between 27 August and 1 September 2025 using an online survey panel. The sample (N = 5,000; ages 15–74) was constructed using cross-quota sampling for prefecture, gender, and age, proportionate to the Basic Resident Register of Japan (as of 1 January 2024). The Sophia University Climate Survey 2025 is part of a research project led by Carola Hommerich, Professor in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Human Sciences, Sophia University, and is supported by a Special Grant for Academic Research on Optional Subjects by Sophia University (2024–2026). This record includes both English and Japanese versions of the data report.
