Abstract

This repository hosts the datasets and code that support the analytical work presented in the paper "Urban-induced precipitation anomalies due to background land cover in Europe" The four key result figures of the paper correspond to four compressed archives prefixed with "result": result1 presents the quantitative results of urban-induced precipitation anomalies (UPA) derived from the GHCN and MSWEP datasets via the site-pair method, including the screening results of 6 site-pair schemes. result2 and result3 respectively report the quantitative results of urban-induced average precipitation anomalies and extreme precipitation anomalies obtained from the MSWEP dataset using the moving window-ridge regression method, with the raw dataset for this analysis provided in result2. Both archives include the results of 4 independent variable schemes, based on a window size of p=16 (i.e., a 33×33 grid). Users can modify the value of p to generate results at different window sizes. result4 contains 3 subfiles named city size, climateclass and geography, which quantify the variations in UPA across different city sizes, climatic and geographical contexts. The key findings of these analyses are summarized in Table 2 in result4. Each archive includes the raw experimental data, MATLAB code, and the corresponding analytical results generated for the study.
