Abstract

Preliminary results about the effects of persistent peripheral neuropathy in experimental models of chronic pain (CP). (A) 3D reconstructions of the capillary network in the primary somatosensory cortex of Control, and 2 week, 2 months and 6 months of the instauration CP models. Acquisition performed at X-ray generated synchrotron imaging systems. Scale bar is 100 um. (B) Golgi-Cox staining of a coronal slice of a rat brain used as CP models. (C) A similar coronal slice analyzed by spatial orientation metrics of the neurites (both axons and dendritic branches) color coded by directionality as in the colorbar at the bottom. (D) Magnification of the primary somatosensory cortex. (E) Preliminary polar plots of the preferred directionality in the primary somatosensory cortex of neurites before (left) and after (right) the chronification of pain.
