CONCEPT PAPER: The Active Docking Hypothesis
Abstract
The creation of fully synthetic life is currently hindered by an assembly problem: the inability to stably insert a synthetic metabolic engine into a lipid bilayer without rupturing the vesicle. This paper proposes a novel assembly method termed "Active Docking." By utilizing compensating electromagnetic fields to neutralize repulsive forces and activating the metabolic engine prior to insertion, we propose that dynamic equilibrium can be achieved, allowing the engine to self-align and "snap" into the membrane wall via induced polarity.
