Why Newer Is Not Always Better in Smartphone Chipsets
Abstract
Abstract Many consumers assume a newer chipset automatically delivers better performance. In reality, smartphone performance depends on architecture, performance class, thermal design, memory bandwidth, die size, and engineering priorities — not release year alone. Older chipsets frequently outperform newer ones when they belong to a higher performance tier or when newer generations shift focus away from raw speed. This paper explains why.
