THE ALGORITHM OF TIME AND THE THEATRICAL CHARACTER: THE METAMORPHOSIS OF HUMAN CHARACTER IN CONTEMPORARY DRAMATURGY
Abstract
In the modern era, technological development—particularly the penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) into all areas of life—has profoundly affected human self-perception, social behavior patterns, and aesthetic thinking. These changes have not bypassed the art of theatre, reshaping the construction, motivation, and stage representation of human character in dramaturgy. This article analyzes the metamorphosis of the human figure in contemporary dramaturgy against the backdrop of conceptualizing the changing world as an “algorithm of time.” Posthuman realities created by artificial intelligence, fragmented identities, and the notion of the performative subject are examined through the lens of theatrical texts and stage characters. As a result, it is argued that in contemporary theatre, the human character is no longer a stable psychological model but a dynamic, decentralized construct interacting with technological reality.
