This chapter addressesSelf-Fixation and Circularizationas the structural aftermath of understanding stoppage. Conditions for Self-Fixation Self-fixation emerges when: Initial understanding enables action Outcomes repeat successfully External challenges diminish At this point, understanding is no longer provisional. It is treated as an unchangeable premise. The Structure of Circularization Once fixed, understanding forms a loop: The same questions are asked The same explanations are retrieved The same judgments are reproduced New information is used not to update understanding, but to reinforce what is already assumed. Understanding shifts from progressionto self-confirmation. How AI Accelerates the Loop AI does not disrupt circularization. It stabilizes it efficiently. Expectation-aligned answers Context-consistent explanations Reproduction of prior judgments All function as mechanismsthat rotate the same understanding at high speed. Theoretical Misinterpretation Existing theories often interpret this state as learning or expertise. However, when: No updating occurs Questions remain unchanged Assumptions never shake The state is not growth. It is stable stagnation. The Intervention Point of Understanding Sovereignty Understanding Sovereignty does not offer techniques to break the loop. Instead, it identifies where the loop closed: Which assumptions became fixed Which successes halted updating Which repetitions erased inquiry Without visualizing the loop, understanding cannot restart. Provisional Conclusion Self-fixation and circularization inevitably follow understanding stoppage. They are not failures, but structural consequences. v0.3 Chapter 4 maps how understanding closes.
